Consultant Cardiologist, Clinical Director
Dr. Abbas founded Hourglass Wellbeing in 2017. He obtained his Medical and Medical Science degrees at Aberdeen University, graduating in 2010.
With 14 years of clinical experience, he is currently an NHS Consultant Cardiologist, subspecialised in Heart Failure and Complex Devices. He has extensive experience in General Cardiology, all aspects of pacemaker, defibrillator (ICD) and resynchronisation (CRT) device implantation and management, as well as Loop Recorders (ILRs). He holds Dual Accreditation in both Cardiology and General Internal Medicine.
Dr. Abbas took part in Clinical Research for several years of his career, studying adipogenesis (fat development), applications of fast-field cycling magnetic resonance (FFC-MR) techniques in inflammation and coronary assessment, the role of beta blockers in COPD, and Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy. These have lead to several publications. He is currently compiling his PhD manuscript.

Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist
Dr. Wiles is an expert in managing patients with Heart Rhythm Disorders. He offers his services at Hourglass Wellbeing, alongside his role as Consultant Cardiologist in the NHS. He is trained in cardiac catheter ablation, an invasive treatment option for patients with atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, SVT, ectopics and ventricular tachycardia. He is also accredited in Cardiac Devices - implanting loop recorders, pacemakers and defibrillators. Dr. Wiles is the only implanter of leadless pacemakers and subcutaneous ICDs in the North of Scotland.
Dr. Wiles qualified in 2008, having studied at both the University of Cambridge and Imperial College School of Medicine. He trained in Cardiology across Wessex, undertaking dedicated Electrophysiology Fellowships in Bournemouth and Southampton. On completing his training (2020), he was appointed to the prestigious role of AVATAR Fellow at St George's University Hospital London, where he developed advanced skills in VT ablation, including through epicardial access.
He obtained his PhD in 2020, remains passionately involved in Teaching, Clinical Research and has authored numerous publications in peer reviewed journals. A complete list of his publications can be reviewed here.

Chief Cardiac Physiologist (Echocardiography)
Mrs. Srinivasan is a Chief Cardiac Physiologist specialising in Echocardiography. Her career in the NHS began in 2005 as a Chief Cardiac Physiologist, obtaining membership of the British Society of Echocardiography in 2008. She continues to offer her services in both NHS and Private Medical capacities.
Mrs. Srinivasan is highly experienced in all aspects of echocardiography required for the accurate diagnosis and ongoing assessment of a range of cardiac conditions. This includes strain analysis, stress echocardiography, transeosophageal echocardiography (TOE) as well as congenital heart disease.
In parallel to her clinical activity Mrs Srinivasan is actively involved in a number of research studies that require both standard and experimental echocardiographic techniques. She is also an experienced educator in the field.

Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal MedicineDr. Kulkarni qualified as a doctor over 30 years ago, and currently works as a consultant physician in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Internal Medicine in Aberdeen. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. His area of special expertise is Metabolic Health.

Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal MedicineDr Klepacki graduated from University of Aberdeen medical school over 12 years ago. He currently works as a Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Internal Medicine in Aberdeen.
His special interests are diabetes in relation to eating disorders(diabulimia); insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome.

Practice Nurse, Clinic Coordinator
Georgia is an NMC-registered, experienced nurse with a BSc in Adult nursing. Georgia trained in Glasgow and has professional nursing experience in neurosurgery, major trauma and latterly, emergency medicine.
Georgia is instrumental at Hourglass Wellbeing in her Clinic Coordinator role. She is also involved in the Wellbeing clinics, Phlebotomy clinics (blood tests) and ECG acquisition.

Orthopaedic Nurse Consultant
Mr. Robison is one of few Nurse Consultants in the North East with extensive experience in Orthopaedic Joint Injection and Minor Surgical Procedures, obtaining his Steroid Injection and Surgical Skills training at Dundee University in 2012. His healthcare career spans 20 years, formerly an NHS team lead Nurse in Trauma and Orthopaedics, where he has had exposure to a wide variety of chronic and acute conditions.
He offers his services at Hourglass Wellbeing, alongside working in the Community in both NHS and Private Medical capacities. Mr. Robison is skilled at delivering a comprehensive range of orthopaedic steroid injections to help alleviate pain, inflammation, and restore function.

Emma Longhurst is a BACP-Registered Counsellor/Mental Health Practitioner that provides comprehensive therapeutic services for individuals seeking both short and long-term therapy. With a strong foundation in Person-Centered Counseling and Psychotherapy, she employs an integrative approach that specialises in Trauma-Informed Narrative Therapy. This approach involves engaging deeply with clients' stories, exploring events in chronological order, and systematically addressing negative associations and responses. It is particularly effective in addressing the effects of complex trauma arising from a range of sources, including sexual abuse, domestic violence, harmful attachment experiences, and abusive institutions and systems.
Her therapeutic approach prioritises the client's comfort and establishes a safe space for healing and growth. By working at a pace and depth that is suitable for each individual, Emma aims to facilitate lasting change in their lives. She offers sessions that provide a supportive environment where clients can feel heard, valued, and empowered within the therapeutic relationship.
